Colombia Sugar Cane Decaf

This natural decaffeination process combines high mountain spring water and Ethyl Acetate (EA) obtained from sugar cane. EA is present in every coffee cherry in its natural state so there are no synthetic chemical substances added and this process is able to be done at origin in Colombia.
This washed-EA process allows for gentle extraction of the caffeine from the bean, avoiding excessive heat or pressure. This maintains the natural structure, terroir, and all characteristics of the coffee bean.
Starts with Soil is a new initiative from Equation Coffee that provides $0.03/lb back to farmers in the form of agricultural support by focusing on:
- Crop diversification based on agroforestry designs
- Decreasing dependency on external inputs, such as chemical fertilizers
- Improving organic matter
- Increasing net income
